Hello readers! Another week of National Football League action has passed us by. The week that was brought some crazy drama: Pittsburgh nearly blowing a 20-point lead, a back-and-forth affair in Cincy, and the Patriots losing three straight games for the first time since 2002. In this post, I'll be recapping the week's action. Let's get to work!
Week 7 Recap
NY Giants 21, Philadelphia 22: TW: Eagles; CV: Eagles
The roller coaster that is the NFC East continues. Daniel Jones threw for 187 yards with two touchdowns but threw an interception in the game. Jones did have an 80-yard run that almost resulted in a touchdown but sadly he fell close to the 20-yard line. Wayne Gallman did provide some rushing yardage with 34 yards with a rushing touchdown in the game. Carson Wentz was on fire in this game, throwing for 359 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Wentz also rushed for 14 yards with a touchdown run. Boston Scott was the leading rusher for Philly with 46 yards on the ground. At this point, just make the winner of this shit division the 7th seed and give a better team a home playoff game. Shit's ridiculous.
Next week:
NY Giants: vs Tampa Bay; Philadelphia: vs Dallas
TW: 1-0; CV: 1-0
Dallas 3, Washington 25: TW: Cowboys; CV: Football Team
When the Cowboys lose to a "Football Team." Andy Dalton started the game for Dallas. He threw for 75 yards with an interception before leaving the game after a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit by Jon Bostick. Bostick was ejected after the play. Ben DiNucci, Dallas's 3rd string quarterback, would only throw for 39 yards. Ezekiel Elliot wouldn't get much in this one as he ran for 45 yards. Kyle Allen threw for 194 yards with two touchdowns in this game, making a mockery of the Dallas pass defense. Antonio Gibson rushed for 128 yards with a touchdown. There's a lot of things wrong in Big D, honestly I think they've given up on the season already. So much talent on the field and they just implode just like that. Time to make good on that "Never picking Dallas again if they lose this game" bet.
Next week:
Dallas: @ Philadelphia; Washington: Bye
TW: 1-1; CV: 2-0
Cleveland 37, Cincinnati 34: TW: Browns; CV: Browns
What a wild game this one was. Baker Mayfield finished the 1st quarter with 0-5 passing with an interception, after that he finished with 297 yards with five touchdowns to finish this game. Kareen Hunt rushed for 76 yards. Odell Beckham Jr would leave the game after a nasty knee injury. Joe Burrow was just as spectacular as Mayfield with 406 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He would also rush for 34 yards with a touchdown. Giovanni Bernard finished the game with 37 yards rushing for the Bungles.
Next week:
Cleveland: vs Las Vegas; Cincinnati: vs Tennessee
TW: 2-1; CV: 3-0
Detroit 23, Atlanta 22: TW: Falcons; CV: Lions
Why Atlanta? WHY! Matthew Stafford threw for 340 yards with a touchdown. The touchdown was the game-winner as Stafford threw a pass to the left to TJ Hockenson with no time remaining in the game. Adrian Peterson rushed for 29 yards and Dandre Swift rushed for 27 yards with a touchdown. Matt Ryan threw for 338 yards with a touchdown in the game. Todd Gurley rushed for 63 yards with two touchdowns, including the one that ultimately left too much time on the clock for the Lions to drive down the field to score. The Falcons have not recovered from 28-3, its just sad.
Next week:
Detroit: vs Indianapolis; Atlanta: @ Carolina
TW: 2-2; CV: 4-0
Green Bay 35, Houston 20: TW: Packers; CV: Packers
Green Bay got back on track in this game. Aaron Rodgers threw for 283 yards with four touchdowns. Devontae Adams had 196 of those 283 yards in receiving. Jamaal Williams rushed for 77 yards with a touchdown. DeShaun Watson threw for 309 yards with two touchdowns but most of them were late in the game. David Johnson rushed for 42 yards in the game. Former Packer Randall Cobb had 95 receiving yards in the game. Packers coach Matt LeFleur is 18-4 in just two seasons at Green Bay. Very underrated coach. Although it helps when you have #12 with you.
Next week:
Green Bay: vs Minnesota; Houston: Bye
TW: 3-2; CV: 5-0
Pittsburgh 27, Tennessee 24: TW: Steelers; CV: Steelers
Oh boy, Pittsburgh got lucky they came out with a win. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 268 yards with two touchdowns but threw for three interceptions. Not a good day for him to say the least. James Conner rushed for 82 yards while Benny Snell rushed for two yards with a touchdown. Chase Claypool was pretty quiet in this game with only one catch for -2 yards. Ryan Tannehill threw for 220 yards with two touchdowns. Derrick Henry was fairly contained by the Steelers defense but still put up a respectable 75 yards rushing with a touchdown.
Next week:
Pittsburgh: @ Baltimore; Tennessee: @ Cincinnati
TW: 4-2; CV: 6-0
Carolina 24, New Orleans 27: TW: Saints; CV: Panthers
Panthers kicker Joey Slye didn't quite have enough leg to send this one to overtime. Teddy Bridgewater threw for 254 yards with two touchdowns. The former Saints quarterback even got to sit down with his former teammates Drew Brees and Taysom Hill during the duration of the game. Mike Davis would only muster 12 rushing yards in the game. Curtis Samuel did rush for five yards with a touchdown though. DJ Moore had 93 receiving yards with two touchdowns. Drew Brees threw for 287 yards with two touchdowns. Alvin Kamara rushed for 83 yards in the game. Joey Slye attempted a 65-yard field goal that was no good. Worth a shot but not enough to get into field goal range.
Next week:
Carolina: vs Atlanta; New Orleans: @ Chicago
TW: 5-2; CV: 6-1
Buffalo 18, NY Jets 10: TW: Bills; CV: Bills
Imagine holding a team to zero touchdowns and still lose a game. That's the J-E-T-S in this game. Josh Allen threw for 307 yards in the game while rushing for 61 yards in the game. Cole Beasley had 112 receiving yards in the game. Bills kicker Tyler Bass was the key to the Bills victory with six field goals. Sam Darnold got the start again for the Jets and threw for 120 yards with two interceptions. Frank Gore rushed for 60 yards and Lamical Perine rushed for 39 yards with the only touchdown in the game. Calling the Jets a dumpster fire would be an insult to dumpster fires everywhere.
Next week:
Buffalo: vs New England; NY Jets: @ Kansas City
TW: 6-2; CV: 7-1
Tampa Bay 45, Las Vegas 20: TW: Buccaneers; CV: Buccaneers
Not even a kickoff time change could stop Tom Brady from putting a lickin' on the Raiders. Tom Brady threw for 369 yards with four touchdowns. Leonard Fournette rushed for 50 yards while Ronald Jones rushed for 34 yards with a touchdown and Tom Brady rushed for a touchdown as well. Derek Carr threw for 284 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Carr wouldn't get much help from his running game as Jalen Richard rushed for 24 yards and Josh Jacobs was held to 17 yards from the ground.
Next week:
Tampa Bay: @ NY Giants; Las Vegas: @ Cleveland
TW: 7-2; CV: 8-1
Jacksonville 29, LA Chargers 39: TW: Chargers; CV: Chargers
The game was the only tight contest in the late-game window. Gardner Minshew threw for 173 yards with two touchdowns in the game, as well as rushed for 21 yards. James Robinson had a monster game on the ground with 119 yards with a touchdown. Darn shame it didn't translate into a win for his team. Justin Herbert continues to amaze people as he threw for 347 yards with three touchdowns. Former NDSU Bison quarterback Easton Stick threw a pass for four yards in this game. Herbert also rushed for 66 yards with a touchdown. Joe Reed would also score a rushing touchdown of his own with 14 yards in the game.
Next week:
Jacksonville: Bye; LA Chargers: @ Denver
TW: 8-2; CV: 9-1
Kansas City 43, Denver 16: TW: Chiefs; CV: Chiefs
The score was a blowout but seeing snow in this game was fun. Patrick Mahomes threw for 200 yards with a touchdown. Chad Henne would see some action with the score out of reach for the Broncos to come back from. He threw for 13 yards. Henne would even score a rushing touchdown in this one but Clyde Edwards-Helaire continued his stellar rookie season with 46 yards and a rushing touchdown in the game. Drew Lock had a rough game with 254 yards passing with two interceptions, one of them was a pick-six. Lock did score a rushing touchdown with eight yards rushing. Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay rushed for 68 and 79 yards rushing respectively, Gordon would score a rushing touchdown.
Next week:
Kansas City: vs NY Jets; Denver: vs LA Chargers
TW: 9-2; CV: 10-1
San Francisco 33, New England 6: TW: 49ers; CV: Patriots
This one was over by halftime. Jimmy Garoppolo had a below average return to New England with 277 yards passing but he did throw two interceptions. The 49ers running game would take the load as Jeff Wilson rushed for 112 yards for three touchdowns. Jamycal Hasty rushed for 57 yards and Kyle Juszczyk rushed for 18 yards with a touchdown. Cam Newton started for the Patriots in this one with 98 yards passing but would throw three interceptions before Bill Belichek benched him in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Stidham wouldn't improve New England's fortunes in this one as he would only get 64 yards passing with an interception of his own. Damien Harris rushed for 58 yards. Can you believe that the Patriots were Super Bowl champions two seasons ago? How the mighty have fallen.
Next week:
San Francisco: @ Seattle; New England: @ Buffalo
TW: 10-2; CV: 10-2
Seattle 34, Arizona 37 (F/OT): TW: Cardinals; CV: Cardinals
Holy shit, this game made up for the crappy late-games. This was a great game to watch. Russell Wilson threw for 388 yards with three touchdowns but also threw three interceptions. One of them was almost a pick-six but DK Metcalf put a stop to that. Wilson also rushed for 84 yards and Carlos Hyde rushed for 68 yards with a touchdown. Kyler Murray threw for 360 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Murray rushed for 67 yards with a touchdown and Chase Edmonds rushed for 58 yards on five carries. Whoever had Kyler Murray on fantasy, kudos to you my friend.
