NFL 2021 Week 13 Recap

Hello readers! Another week of National Football League action has come and gone. The week that was provided some chaos but also provided some expected results. Such storylines included the Lions winning a football game, a blowout in Cincinnati, . This post will include a recap of the week's games. Let's get to work!

Week 13 Recap

Dallas 27, New Orleans 17: TW: Cowboys; CV: Cowboys
Ugly game if you hate turnovers. Dak Prescott threw alright with completing 26 of 40 passes for 238 yards with a touchdown to Michael Gallup but also threw an interception. Tony Pollard was the key contributor as the running back ran seven times for 71 yards with a 58-yard run that resulted in six points for Dallas. Ezekiel Elliot rushed for 45 yards on 13 carries. Defensive tackle Carlos Watkins would pick off a Taysom Hill pass and run it back for a score. Taysom Hill was the starter in this one and he was not great. Completing just 19 of 41 passes for 264 yards with two touchdown passes but also threw an outrageous four interceptions. Hill would be the leading rusher for the Saints as he rushed 11 times for 101 yards. It was an expected result but Dallas didn't really dazzle you either.

TW: 1-0; CV: 1-0

Next week:
Dallas: @ Washington
New Orleans: @ NY Jets

Arizona 33, Chicago 22: TW: Cardinals; CV: Cardinals
Welcome back Kyler Murray. The passer completed 11 of 15 passes for 123 yards with two touchdowns to James Conner and DeAndre Hopkins. Welcome back as well to DeAndre Hopkins. Murray would run in for two more scores as he added 59 yards. James Conner rushed for 75 yards on 20 carries. Andy Dalton completed 26 of 41 passes for 229 yards with two touchdowns but also threw four interceptions. David Montgomery was back after injury and provided 90 yards rushing with a touchdown on 21 carries. Oddly enough the Cardinals have played better on the road than at home, a perfect 7-0. Crazy.

TW: 2-0; CV: 2-0

Next week:
Arizona: vs LA Rams
Chicago: @ Green Bay

Indianapolis 31, Houston 0: TW: Colts; CV: Colts
Houston was held to 141 total yards in this game. Carson Wentz finished with 158 yards passing with a touchdown. Jonathan Taylor continued his onslaught with a 143-yard, two touchdown day on the ground on 32 carries. Deon Jackson rushed for 19 yards with a touchdown as well. Davis Mills threw 6 of 14 passes for 49 yards. Tyrod Taylor completed 5 of 13 passes for 45 yards with an interception. Rex Burkhead was the leading rusher for Houston with 30 yards.

TW: 3-0; CV: 3-0

Next week:
Indianapolis: Bye
Houston: vs Seattle

LA Chargers 41, Cincinnati 22: TW: Bengals; CV: Bengals
What the heck Bungles? Justin Herbert had a better day with completing 26 of 35 passes for 317 yards with three touchdown passes but also had an interception in the game. Austin Ekeler provided some good yardage with 59 yards with a touchdown run. Joe Burrow would be down early in this game as he finished with 24 of 40 passes completed for 300 yards with a touchdown pass to Ty Higgins but had two interceptions in the game. With a deficit the Bengals wouldn't be able to get a great game out of Joe Mixon as the runner was held to 54 yards with a touchdown. Samaje Perine had 36 yards rushing. Joe Burrow would run in for a score as he ran on a 6-yard run. Cincinnati's turnovers really killed them and not getting their offense on the field early and often really hurt them. Defense was also a letdown as well.

TW: 3-1; CV: 3-1

Next week:
LA Chargers: vs NY Giants
Cincinnati: vs San Francisco

Minnesota 27, Detroit 29: TW: Vikings; CV: Vikings
Of course you'd shit the bed when it mattered most. Kirk Cousins was good as the passer completed 30 of 40 passes for 340 yards with two touchdowns to Justin Jefferson and KJ Osborn. Alexander Mattison was good as well in place of starter Dalvin Cook with 22 carries for 90 yards with a touchdown run. Jared Goff was okay in the game, completing 25 of 41 passes for 296 yards with three touchdown passes but had an interception in the game. Jamaal Williams rushed for 17 carries with 71 yards. The Lions would win the game on a redzone possession on the Vikings 11-yard line. Jared Goff would hit Anthony St Brown on a pass to the left with four seconds left to go. Congrats Detroit.

TW: 3-2; CV: 3-2

Next week:
Minnesota: vs Pittsburgh
Detroit: @ Denver

NY Giants 9, Miami 20: TW: Dolphins; CV: Giants
Dolphins win their 5th straight. Mike Glennon would start in place of Daniel Jones who was out with a neck injury. Glennon threw not great as he completed 23 of 44 passes for 187 yards with an interception. It was probably warranted as he was put on the spot. Saquon Barkley rushed for 55 yards on 11 carries with a 23-yard run being the longest in the game. Graham Gano would hit three of four field goals to provide some points for the Giants. Tua Tagovailoa was good in this game as he completed 30 of 41 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns. Myles Gaskin provided some solid yardage as he rushed for 44 yards on 15 carries.

TW: 4-2; CV: 3-3

Next week:
NY Giants: @ LA Chargers
Miami: Bye

Philadelphia 33, NY Jets 18: TW: Eagles; CV: Eagles
Minshewmania is back baby! Gardner Minshew threw 20 of 25 passes for completions. He had 242 yards passing with two touchdowns to Dallas Goedert. Miles Sanders had a day for the ages as he had 24 carries for 120 yards rushing. Kenneth Gainwell would score a rushing touchdown with a 54-yard rushing day. Zach Wilson would have a good day if you had him on fantasy. The rookie passer had 23 of 38 completed passes for 226 yards with two touchdowns but also did have a pass picked off by an Eagles player. Wilson would run in for a touchdown on a 1-yard run. Tevin Coleman rushed for 58 yards to finish the game for the Jets. At least the Jets had a 12-7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.

TW: 5-2; CV: 4-3

Next week:
Philadelphia: Bye
NY Jets: vs New Orleans

Tampa Bay 30, Atlanta 17: TW: Buccaneers; CV: Buccaneers
It was a great game with just one hiccup from the Bucs. Tom Brady continued to defy Father Time as he completed 38 of 51 passes for 368 yards with four touchdown passes but had an interception. The interception would come on a play deep in Buccaneer territory as Brady threw a short pass that would find Marlon Davidson for a pick-six. Leonard Fournette rushed 13 times for 44 yards. Matt Ryan would throw alright as he completed 30 of 41 passes for 297 yards passing. Cordarrelle Patterson rushed 13 times for 78 yards. Mike Davis rushed for 32 yards with a touchdown. Atlanta still can't yet beat Tom Brady who is 10-0 against the Falcons.

TW: 6-2; CV: 5-3

Next week:
Tampa Bay: vs Buffalo
Atlanta: @ Carolina

Jacksonville 7, LA Rams 37: TW: Rams; CV: Rams
The Jaguars were what the Rams needed to get back to a winning formula. Trevor Lawrence would not play bad but didn't play great either. The rookie completed 16 of 28 passes for 145 yards. Carlos Hyde would contribute the only touchdown for Jacksonville on a 1-yard dive in for the score early in the 2nd quarter. James Robinson also added 24 yards of rushing for the Jags. Matthew Stafford rebounded nicely with 26 completed passes out of 38 for 295 yards for three touchdowns. Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, and Odell Beckham Jr were recipients of those passes for scores. Sony Michel had his best game as a Ram with a 24 carry, 121 yard with a touchdown performance. Here's the Jacksonville possession results: fumble, punt, TD, punt, punt, end of half, punt, downs, fumble, punt, end of game.

TW: 7-2; CV: 6-3

Next week:
Jacksonville: @ Tennessee
LA Rams: @ Arizona

Washington 17, Las Vegas 15: TW: Raiders; CV: Raiders
The legend of Heinicke keeps on growing. Taylor Heinicke would play fairly well with 23 completions of 30 passes for 196 yards for two touchdowns but had a pass picked off but had a few passes that could've been picked off but were dropped. Antonio Gibson had a solid day with 23 carries for 88 yards with a 22-yard run being his longest. The game deciding score would come on a Brian Johnson 48-yard field goal to give the Football Team a 2-point lead. Derek Carr would play just as well with 28 of 38 completed passes for 249 yards but didn't throw a touchdown pass. Josh Jacobs rushed for 52 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown run. Daniel Carlson would be used often as he hit a perfect 3 for 3 on field goals, with a 52-yarder being his longest. Las Vegas would only convert 2 of 8 3rd downs in this game.

TW: 7-3; CV: 6-4

Next week:
Washington: vs Dallas
Las Vegas: @ Kansas City

Baltimore 19, Pittsburgh 20: TW: Steelers; CV: Ravens
Holy cow this game lived up to the usual Ravens-Steelers hype. Lamar Jackson completed 23 of 37 passes for 253 yards with a touchdown but had a pass intercepted by Minkah Fitzpatrick. Pittsburgh would have a better day in containing the run but Lamar Jackson would get a decent 55 yards on 8 carries. Devontae Freeman would rush 52 yards on 14 carries for a touchdown. A questionable call would come as John Harbaugh would try to go for 2 but a hurried throw from Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews would go incomplete. TJ Watt would be the one to hurry the throw. I felt the decision might've been warranted but you have Justin Tucker who has been automatic this season. Ben Roethlisberger would be quiet for most of the game but had 21 of 31 pass completions for 236 yards with two touchdowns. Both of them to Diontae Johnson. Najee Harris would be the leading rusher in this game with 71 yards with 21 carries. The Steelers are still alive.

TW: 8-3; CV: 6-5

Next week:
Baltimore: @ Cleveland
Pittsburgh: @ Minnesota

San Francisco 23, Seattle 30: TW: 49ers; CV: 49ers
You just had to shit the bed when it mattered most. Jimmy Garoppolo would not play that stellar of a game as he completed 20 of his 30 passes for 299 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Elijah Mitchell carried the ball 22 yards for 66 yards with a touchdown. George Kittle would have a good day with catching the ball as the tight end caught nine balls for 181 yards including a touchdown that would be a tippy toe in for the score. Russell Wilson had a good day in the game as he had 30 completions of 37 passes thrown for 231 yards with two touchdowns with an interception. Travis Homer would have a great day rushing the ball as he racked up 80 yards with a touchdown. He had a 73-yard run that resulted from a fake punt attempt in the 1st quarter. Certainly it was a big play for them. Rashad Penny had 35 yards rushing. Adrian Peterson would have an alright game as he had been picked up after the Titans let him go. He would have a touchdown and had 16 yards rushing. At least you swept the 49ers, Seahawks fans!

TW: 8-4; CV: 6-6

Next week:
San Francisco: @ Cincinnati
Seattle: @ Houston

Denver 9, Kansas City 22: TW: Chiefs; CV: Chiefs
The Broncos outgained the Chiefs in total yardage by a 404-267 total. Teddy Bridgewater really didn't look that solid in this game as he completed 22 of 40 passes for 257 yards with a touchdown but also had two passes picked off by Chiefs players. One of the interceptions was grabbed by strong safety Juan Thornhill who went back to the house for a 75-yard touchdown. Javonte Williams rushed for a solid 23 carry, 102 yard rushing day for him. Patrick Mahomes didn't look that spectacular either but he did have a 15 of 29 passing for completions for 184 yards with an interception. Clyde Edwards-Helaire would make his return in this game as he rushed for 54 yards on 14 carries. Patrick Mahomes did get into the endzone on a 10-yard scramble to the right to give the Chiefs an early 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter. I don't necessarily think the Chiefs have been playing like the Chiefs of old but they have been consistent and Patrick Mahomes hasn't felt like the person to carry them.

TW: 9-4; CV: 7-6

Next week:
Denver: vs Detroit
Las Vegas: vs Las Vegas

New England 14, Buffalo 10: TW: Patriots; CV: Bills
It was a game for the ages truly. Mac Jones would finish the game with 2 completions out of 3 passes thrown for 19 yards. Not a typo either. Damien Harris ran the ball well in this game as he rushed for 111 yards on 10 carries for a touchdown. The touchdown would come on a 64-yard run straight up the middle. Josh Allen threw 15 of 30 passes for completions for 145 yards with a touchdown to Gabriel Davis. Josh Allen would once again be the leading rusher for the Bills as he rushed for 39 yards on six carries. The weather at Buffalo looked promising for football weather but sadly it wasn't the case. The wind was there but the snow tapered off. Still such a Buffalo Bills thing to do and let the Patriots run over you at home.

TW: 10-4; CV: 7-7

Next week:
New England: Bye
Buffalo: @ Tampa Bay
