NFL 2021 Week 14 Recap

Hello readers! Another week of National Football League action has come and gone. The Week that was brought us a near comeback in Minnesota, a scorigami in Kansas City, and a shutout in Nashville. The post will include a recap of the week's games. Let's get to work!

Week 14 Recap

Pittsburgh 28, Minnesota 36: TW: Vikings; CV: Vikings
The comeback that never was. Pittsburgh looked to have a better start to this football game but didn't score a touchdown until the 3rd quarter. Ben Roethlisberger would have a solid game as he completed 28 of his 40 passes for 308 yards for three touchdowns and one interception. Najee Harris would tack  on 94 yards with a touchdown in this game. His touchdown would be the start of a 28-7 run that ultimately would be undone by a Pat Friermuth drop. Kirk Cousins wouldn't look bad as he did have a good start in the first half and slowly faded out in the 2nd. He completed 14 of 31 passes for 216 yards for two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions. The star in the game was the Dalvin Cook show as the runner ran over the Steelers for a great 205 yards and two touchdowns. At one point the Vikings were up 29-0 late in the 3rd quarter. Chase Claypool is a moron sometimes.

TW: 1-0; CV: 1-0

Next week:
Pittsburgh: vs Tennessee
Minnesota: @ Chicago

Atlanta 29, Carolina 21: TW: Falcons; CV: Falcons
The Panthers are 2-8 since they started out 3-0 this season. Just ouch. Matt Ryan was alright in this game as he completed 19 of 28 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown pass to Hayden Hurst. Cordarrelle Patterson was a key contributor to the win as the runner racked up 58 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown. Mike Davis added 44 yards. Mykal Walker would find himself with a touchdown after Cam Newton threw him a pass and proceeded to return it for a 66-yard touchdown. Cam Newton would start and wasn't stellar as he completed 15 of 23 passes for 178 yards but had an interception and lost a fumble. Newton would also be the leading rusher for the Panthers as he added 47 yards and a touchdown run. PJ Walker would relieve the starter in the 4th quarter and had 6 of 12 passes completed for 75 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Chuba Hubbard would have 33 rushing yards with a touchdown. The Falcons felt that the lead was slipping by but with some good clock management and use of their running game, they would hold on and get their 6th win of the year.

TW: 2-0; CV: 2-0

Next week:
Atlanta: @ San Francisco
Carolina: @ Buffalo

Baltimore 22, Cleveland 24: TW: Ravens; CV: Ravens
Just another day in the AFC North, where everyone beats each other up. Lamar Jackson would start in the game and hit a perfect 4 for 4 completions for 17 yards. He would leave the game after taking a huge hit to his ankle and couldn't put weight on it. Tyler Huntley would come into the game provide solid backup for Baltimore. He finished with 27 of 38 completions for 270 yards with a touchdown to Mark Andrews. Huntley would run around and rush for 45 yards in the game. Devonta Freeman was the leading rusher in the game with 64 yards on 13 carries. Mark Andrews caught 11 passes for 115 yards with a touchdown. Baker Mayfield looked better as he completed 22 of 32 passes for 190 yards with two touchdowns and had an interception. Nick Chubb added some yards as he rushed 59 yards on 17 carries. Cleveland would get offense on the defense as Myles Garrett sacked Tyler Huntley and had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a touchdown. Certainly a worthy play for him to add for his Defensive Player of the Year resume.

TW: 2-1; CV: 2-1

Next week:
Baltimore: vs Green Bay
Cleveland: vs Las Vegas

Dallas 27, Washington 20: TW: Football Team; CV: Football Team
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy guauranteed a win against rival Washington. The Cowboys would barely make that guarantee a sure thing. Dak Prescott would complete 22 of 39 passes for 211 yards with a touchdown to Amari Cooper but had two passes grabbed by Washington. Ezekiel Elliot rushed for 45 yards on 12 carries. Corey Clement rushed 44 yards on 13 carries. Dallas would get offense on defense as Micah Parsons sacked Taylor Heinicke and made him fumble. Dorance Armstrong would recover it and get it into the endzone. Taylor Heinicke wasn't as effective in past games as the passer hit 11 of 25 completions for 122 yards with a touchdown but had an interception. He would leave the game and Kyle Allen would add 49 yards passing with 4 of 9 passes completed. Jonathan Williams had 16 yards rushing with a touchdown on four carries. Antonio Gibson rushed 10 times for 36 yards. So much for believing in Washington.

TW: 2-2; CV: 2-2

Next week:
Dallas: @ NY Giants
Washington: @ Philadelphia

Jacksonville 0, Tennessee 20: TW: Titans; CV: Titans
To say that Jacksonville was lost was an understatement. Newer headlines came out of head coach Urban Meyer's leadership and coaching came out as the season of woes continued for Jacksonville. Trevor Lawrence was the contributor to these woes as the passer threw 24 of 40 passes for 221 yards with four interceptions. James Robinson was shut down by a long while as he had four yards rushing on six carries. Ryan Tannehill didn't really take advantage of the turnovers but he didn't add to the turnover fest either. The passer threw 20 of 31 passes for 191 yards. Donta Freeman carried the ball 13 times for 47 yards with a touchdown. Ryan Tannehill did get a touchdown while adding 29 yards rushing. Safe to say the Titans are playing solid ball while hoping Derrick Henry comes back come playoff time.

TW: 3-2; CV: 3-2

Next week:
Jacksonville: vs Houston
Tennessee: @ Pittsburgh

Las Vegas 9, Kansas City 48: TW: Chiefs; CV: Chiefs
The Raiders first play in the game resulted in a fumble for six. They wouldn't recover after that. Derek Carr threw 33 of 45 balls for completion for 263 yards with a touchdown but had an interception that was grabbed by Tyrann Mathieu. Josh Jacobs rushed nine times for 24 yards. Patrick Mahomes was efficient in the game as he completed 20 of 24 passes for 258 yards with two touchdowns. Derrick Gore rushed 66 yards on nine carries for a touchdown. Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed for 37 yards with two touchdowns. Las Vegas also added fuel to the fire when the entire team stepped on the Chiefs logo just before kickoff. The 48-9 score was the 1,071st unique score in NFL history. Happy Scorigami everyone!

TW: 4-2; CV: 4-2

Next week:
Las Vegas: @ Cleveland
Kansas City: @ LA Chargers

New Orleans 30, NY Jets 9: TW: Saints; CV: Saints
The Jets certainly heard the Saints were marching on. Taysom Hill had a solid game on offense as the passer-runner would hit 15 of 21 passes for 175 yards as well as 73 yards rushing with two touchdowns on the ground. Alvin Kamara would make his return to action as the rusher racked up 120 yards over the Jets defense with a touchdown run. Zach Wilson was not great in this game but being with the Jets is a task of its own. Wilson would hit 19 of 42 passes for 202 yards as well as ran for 33 yards on four carries. Lamical Perine would rush for 28 yards on seven carries. New York's nine points would come on three Eddy Pineiro field goals, with a 46-yard attempt being his longest in this game. New Orleans came back to life but I'd pump the brakes on it as they beat the Jets.

TW: 5-2; CV: 5-2

Next week:
New Orleans: @ Tampa Bay
NY Jets: @ Miami

Seattle 33, Houston 13: TW: Seahawks; CV: Seahawks
For once, Davis Mills didn't absolutely look awful in this game. Russell Wilson completed 17 of 28 passes for 260 yards with two touchdowns. Rashaad Penny was a beast in the gmae as he had 137 yards rushing with two touchdowns, a 47-yard run being his longest in the game. Davis Mills was effective in the game as he completed 33 of 49 passes for 331 yards with a touchdown. Rex Burkhead rushed for 40 yards on 11 carries. At one point the Texans held a lead for about five minutes then the Seahawks took over. Tyler Lockett and former Seahawks wide receiver and Hall of Famer Steve Largent share a birthday.

TW: 6-2; CV: 6-2

Next week:
Houston: @ Jacksonville
Seattle: @ LA Rams

Detroit 10, Denver 38: TW: Broncos; CV: Broncos
The Broncos would start the game with 10 men on the field in honor of Demaryius Thomas. It was a tribute that would lead to a Broncos victory. Jared Goff would fall back to earth with 24 completions out of 39 passes for 215 yards with a touchdown to Kalif Raymond and had an interception. Craig Reynolds rushed for 83 yards on 11 carries with a 35-yard run being his longest. Teddy Bridgewater was alright in the game as he threw 18 of 25 passes for completions with a 179 yard day from the air with two touchdowns. Melvin Gordon rushed for 111 yards with two touchdowns. Javontae Williams rushed for 73 yards with a touchdown. Safe to say the Detroit Lions might have won their Super Bowl last week against the Vikings.

TW: 7-2; CV: 7-2

Next week:
Detroit: vs Arizona
Denver: vs Cincinnati

NY Giants 21, LA Chargers 37: TW: Chargers; CV: Chargers
The Chargers showed no mercy. Joey Bosa proved it by doing push ups in an act of savagery. Mike Glennon was not great as the passer completed 17 of 36 passes for 191 yards with two touchdown passes with an interception as well as running in for a score on a 7-yard run. Saquon Barkley would get 64 yards on 16 carries. Devontae Booker rushed for 56 yards on eight carries. Justin Herbert would be magical as the passer completed 23 of 31 passes for 275 yards for three touchdowns. One of the touchdowns would come on a 59-yard bomb pass to Jalen Guyton. Austin Ekeler would be a valuable back as the runner rushed for 67 yards with a touchdown. It's okay Giants fans, the season is only four more weeks away from being over.

TW: 8-2; CV: 8-2

Next week:
NY Giants: vs Dallas
LA Chargers: vs Kansas City

Buffalo 27, Tampa Bay 33 (F/OT): TW: Buccaneers; CV: Bills
Tom Brady's 700th career touchdown would come at a valuable time. Buffalo looked to get back to on a winning track and nearly did. Josh Allen would prove to yet again be the only man on the field that could stay with the defending champs. Allen would hit 36 of 54 passes for completions for 308 yards with two touchdowns while throwing an interception. He would also be the leading rusher for the Bills as he ran for 109 yards on 12 carries for a touchdown. Devin Singletary would get 52 yards on the ground with a 29-yard run being his longest. Tom Brady would stay himself in this game as the 44-year old completed 31 of 46 passes for 363 yards for two touchdowns. He would also get his jogging skills to use as he got 16 yards with a touchdown run. Leonard Fournette would be the beast in this game for the Buccaneers as the runner got 113 yards with a touchdown. His longest was a 47-yard run. Buffalo is still in the mix but not anymore for a division I feel.

TW: 9-2; CV: 8-3

Next week:
Buffalo: vs Carolina
Tampa Bay: vs New Orleans

San Francisco 26, Cincinnati 23 (F/OT): TW: Bengals; CV: Bengals
Quite the exciting overtime period. Jimmy Garoppolo was quite effective in this game as the passer threw 27 of 41 completed passes for 296 yards with two touchdowns, including the game winner to Brandon Aiyuk in overtime. Jeff Wilson would get consistent yardage for the 49ers with 56 yards. Deebo Samuel would get a touchdown on 27-yard run to the right. Joe Burrow played better in this game as he completed 25 of 34 passes for 348 yards for two touchdowns to Ja'Marr Chase. Joe Mixon would rush for 58 yards on 18 carries with a 17-yard run being his longest in the game. Two fumbles by Cincinnati would be key for the game as the 49ers would take advantage of those mistakes. Cincinnati's road to the playoffs let alone the division got a bit harder.

TW: 9-3; CV: 8-4

Next week:
San Francisco: vs Atlanta
Cincinnati: @ Denver

Chicago 30, Green Bay 45: TW: Packers; CV: Packers
If that was the last time that Aaron Rodgers faces off against the Bears, I feel Bears fans can be relieved of it. Justin Fields wasn't great in the game as he completed 18 of 33 passes for 224 yards with two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions. The passer would also be a runner in the game as he ran for 74 yards on nine carries. David Montgomery would get 42 yards rushing on 10 carries. The scoring for the Chicago Bears would come on the 2nd quarter where both teams would put up 45 combined points. Aaron Rodgers was sluggish in the first quarter but he would get back to his old self as the passer finished with 29 of 37 pass completions for 341 yards with four touchdowns. AJ Dillon rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries. Aaron Jones rushed for 35 yards with a touchdown on five carries. Safe to say that Aaron Rodgers still owns you Bears.

TW: 10-3; CV: 9-4

Next week:
Chicago: vs Minnesota
Green Bay: @ Baltimore

LA Rams 30, Arizona 23: TW: Cardinals; CV: Cardinals
When they were up against the wall, the Rams reacted when everyone was against them. Matthew Stafford would prove to be the catalyst in the game as the passer completed 23 of 30 passes for 287 yards with three touchdown passes. Each of them to Cooper Kupp, Odell Beckham Jr and Van Jefferson. Sony Michel would provide some good rushing yards as he carried the ball 20 times for 79 yards. Kyler Murray would find himself in a hostile environment all game long as the passer completed 32 of his 49 passes for 383 yards with two interceptions. He would also rush for 61 yards on seven carries. The scorer for the Cards would come to James Conner. Conner would find the endzone two times while getting 31 yards rushing on 13 carries. Along with the two interceptions, the Rams would keep Kyler Murray in the pocket and get in his face all day. Doesn't help that the Cards were 2 for 4 on 4th down conversions and 8 for 15 on 3rd down.

TW: 10-4; CV: 9-5

Next week:
LA Rams: vs Seattle
Arizona: @ Detroit
